We have had a few new nodes that I setup today joining us. They should be connected shortly.

It looks like I have some messages coming now, and one of my tests posts on SCISYSOP went through. I only have messages in 3 of the echos though; I'm not sure if that means the other echoes are empty or something is messed up in my configuration.

We only have a few echos active as I only restarted SciNet a few weeks ago,

Now that I have actually checked, there are only a few echos without
messages. You might want to rescan all of the SciNet echos to pickup the messages from the past few weeks.

I got a couple posts from you in the Fantasy Chat and Retro Computing echos. But those are currently the only messages I have in there. I logged into your BBS and checked yours, and thre are more messages there on your BBS than I have in mine. Earlier today I tried to do a %RESET in an AreaFix message (I think that's the right command) in an attempt to have it send me all the messages, but I don't think that worked.

Mystic's areafix command for rescanning message bases is:

    %RESCAN

Send the message to Areafix@77:1/100 with your areafix password in the
subject and %RESCAN in the body and you should be good.

You can also add %HELP in a new line and you will get back a help message detailing all the areafix commands.

The same can be done for fileechos by sending a netmail to filefix instead.

I had tried that but it wasn't downloading all the messages.. I just tried it again with an R=2000 parameter to download the most recent 2000 messages (I don't think there are that many messages, but I just wanted to specify a large enough number to get them all):
    %RESCAN R=2000

It seems I didn't get all the messages.. For instance, my BBS Software and BBS Modding echoes still don't have any messages. My logs look okay, there aren't any unknown areas reported. I suppose I'll keep looking for issues on my side.

I'm going to force it at my end so that I can inspect the packet. It also
very well might be a Mystic issue. Are you at least getting new messages in
    the other echos now?

I will be switching to BinkD and the Husky project shortly. Now that more and more people are joining SciNet, I really need to rely on a mature and proven echomail/fileecho eco-system. I'll keep the BBS on Mystic, I just don't think Mystic is ready to handle a large load.

I think Avon (Paul Hayton) uses Mystic for all of this, and fsxNet is fairly large. I could be wrong. But I do agree that mystic feels like it may do a
few things...oddly. My bbs, for example :P

He does, but they also do some weird multiple mystic installs for their connections. He also runs FD over IP.

Mystic is great as a standalone solution, but htick, hpt, binkd and it's perl hooks offer so much more, especially for a largeish network. Mystic just doesn't have that type of feature set.

The husky project has such large support and is focused on doing echomail and doing it well. It's been running Region 50 in Fidonet (all of Russia) for a long time.

Yes, I'm getting messages in some of the other echos. I think part of the problem was I had some of my Synchronet internal message area codes misconfigured in my configuration for SciNet, but I had fixed that a couple days ago but am still not receiving messages in those areas. Other than that, I'm not sure what might be going on, and I'm not seeing any 'unrecognized area' errors in my tosser log anymore for SciNet. Maybe some areas still aren't getting any messages sent.. I know for sure SCIBBSSOFT and SCIBBSMOD are areas that you have messages for on your BBS but I haven't received any; there are a couple others too.

Yeah, I'm on fsxNet and haven't noticed an issue there yet.

There have been a few issues including support for the older packet 3 type systems. I had a problem with my Amiga system sending netmail to Mystic. This problem happened with Dan who is my fsxNet hub and with my own system, so it
    is a repeatable bug.

Mystic lacks things like route checking, packet tools and a few other tools that make running a large network easier. Mystic also does some voodoo in
order to get file tics to move around properly. mutil copies the tic and the corresponding file to a filebox in order to send it to a node instead of following the FTSC guidelines of attaching it to a netmail. It also lacks
tools to manually hatch a file, etc..

It is much like Synchronet. It works for networks, it just doesn't provide additional tools to make it easier.
