hmmm... nothing much... he sent me a cheap 76key (60+%) keyboard. He probably noticed that i am trying to make an old/new style home micro with a rpi0 :) If he just sent me a tft screen also, it would be complete :) hahaha

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Bought myself a new (to me) Moog guitar pedal. Oh, and Frusciante is back in the Chili Peppers, which is a Christmas gift we can all celebrate!

What are you trying to build? I just used the keyboard and case from a broken c64 and added a rpi3 running BCM64 which is a bare metal C64 Vice implementation of the C64/128/Vic20/Plus 4. Awesome project.

Nice! I collect vinyl as well, but my collection is mostly jazz, big band swing, and old Crooners like Sinatra. :P

I do have all the Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, and Beatles records, though...

Something like an old home micro computer, like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxzcaz2gCCs

or a cyberdeck type thing like these:

    https://hackaday.com/tag/cyberdeck/

Because i don't have the screen yet, i will go with the micro home computer first and after i gather the materials (screen, battery, charger, converter etc.) i will make the cyberdeck thing.... hopefully :)

Ah yes... i have seen the youtube video with the construction of it. Nice

You guys had a much wider selection of 8 bit machines than we did over here
    in North America.

I always wanted a Spectrum and an Amstrad but I'm not prepared to spent $100+ on shipping via ebay.

Atari's, Amigas and C64/128s I have a plenty, it's those European machines I crave. I guess it's true what they say, the grass is greener on the other

Perhaps... but even so, back then we couldn't get all of them. For example, just by luck i got my CPC6128, but after that i couldn't buy an Amiga, so immediately "jumped" to PCs (386DX). This way i lost all the Amiga good stuff :(

Even now, if you get an Amiga in a good price, the stuff you need to fix and add, have a respectful cost... also you must have knowledge to restore the machines.

I don't regret about my Amstrad, but i always wanted to have an Amiga also :)

I always wanted a Spectrum and an Amstrad but I'm not prepared to spent $100+ on shipping via ebay.

It would be cheaper to make a trip to Europe, pick some machines and go
    back... hahahaha :)

I guess it's true what they say, you are never happy with what you have :) For sure there are many home micros of that era, but most of them, didn't have
much of success. If you have an Amiga, Atari, C64, CPC464/6128 and spectrum, then you have 90% of the home micro history... i think. Those were the most successful.

We were quite lucky here in Canada, the Amiga was a very popular machine. Little known fact, Commodore first started here in Toronto in the late 70s before moving to PA in the states.

It would be cheaper to make a trip to Europe, pick some machines and go back... hahahaha :)

It would be and honestly it has been in the back of my mind. I have EU citizenship and have traveled back and forth a lot, just not in the past 5-7 years. We are planning a vacation to the Europe in the next year or so. I will definately be bringing back a few machines to add to the collection.

You can add the BBC Micro to that list as well.

Well maybe your part of Canada :D I only knew one person with one and I was
the only person rocking an Atari ST at the time. Everyone else was all PC
with the occasional Apple II straggler. Although I did grow up in backwoods

Plus finding Amiga's in Canada now is like panning for gold. Especially if
you want anything beyond a A500. Took me years to finally get one a few
months ago for a sane price. Mind you the money into expansions I've put into it but it's my only one so I'm tricking the shit out it.

Don't forget the MSX that was a pretty major player. Getting a few varieties

We just had the World of Commodore a few weeks back here in Toronto and you could have found yourself a great deal. I picked up a Vectrex, a Commodore SX-64 and an Amiga 1000 with a 1082 monitor for $900, which I think was a
great deal, especially for the 1000 and the SX-64.

You can still find great deals, you just have to avoid things like e-bay.

Was living in Oklahoma at the time & people were still using C64's as their boxes. The only thing I heard about an Amiga was from a broadcast engineer
at the time who showed me some of the stuff which was being done for
TV/movies at the time. He suggested I get a 500...which I did...but the ex walked out about that time...so had to sell it to make ends meet.

Would still give certain body parts to have that machine back...as long as
    she never comes back. ;)

Been looking for a C64 Breadbin/64C-white/C128/VIC-20/AMIGA 500-1200 case with a keyboard to be able to set up VICE or Amibian with an RPI. Doesn't even need a motherboard...just the case with an intact keyboard.

I come across a lot of Vic-20/64s/C64s. The very in price but the usually go for, depending on their condition, $50-$150 Canadian.

That's better than anything I've found online...especially just wanting the case/keyboard to setup my own system with VICE or Amibian.

As for Amigas, you are looking in the $250-$300 range for a 500.

Still not bad...but will have to wait into the future to look into it.
