• SciNet Gopher Server

From Netsurge@77:77/5 to All on Sun Oct 6 04:04:08 2019
Seeing as there has been some renewed interest in the gopher protocol,
I have decided to bring the SciNet gopher server online.

You will find valuable information about SciNet including how to apply
and a collection of setup guides on getting the League 77 InterBBS
doors we offer setup using dosemu (for those of you running Linux,
although the can be used for Windows and DOS as well).

You can use xqtr's new Mystic gopher client or any gopher client you wish.

Check out all the fun at gopher://uucp.scinet-ftn.org

Let me know if you have any issues or want to see something added.

That is weird as I don't seem those on my system, at least not publicly. I
can see those as headers if I hit V in Mystic and show the headers, but not when just reading mail.

    Anyone else seeing this?

This sounds cool, I was thinking about installing his gopher client anyway.

Wait, wait, there was an offline scinet gopher server lying around? =)

Actually there was, from about 8 years ago or so.

It seems to be an issue isolated to Mystic systems only.

I think I have it sorted out and it seems to have been limited to
Mystic systems only. Something to mention to g00r00 when he resurfaces.

Are you seeing those outside of the headers now?

ditto... when I tackle all the other jobs I have (linux installs and
migration etc.) I'd like to have a crack at this idea also.

I'm actually quite surprised at how much traffic it has been getting. I guess for serving text files, nothing beats it.
