Come Monday morning, we here in Toronto are back to a lockdown.

Maybe I will end up giving Bezos enough money to buy a yacht again.

Portland, Oregon has initiated a 30-day 'freeze'. She called it something new this time, 'a freeze'... and I tell ya one thing; its not being enforced at all, and Americans have decided - they don't care.

I don't mean to get all political, so I'll just say I want America open but I do wish everyone would just wear a mask and do mitigation techniques to a tee. They are not... mask wearing a little more, because its visible.

I think that we're gonna have this virus till we're all vaccinated - it seems Americans won't try to keep it at bay. In my experience, in my city of Portland, Oregon...

It's a shame that people don't take the basic precautions that public health officials are virtually begging for.

Toronto is quite a large city, it you add in the suburbs around us you are looking at 6 million people. It's really hard to keep something like this at bay without locking things down.

I think you are correct. Until their is a vaccine or we reach herd immunity, we will never see the other side of this.

I just wish people would follow some basic restrictions. A lot less people would have died.

People is just not taking much care and the last vaccine distributor I talked to told me he trust not this new covid vaccine, so I guess that leaves us with the long, painful path :-(

I can't help but to agree. Here in Seattle the majority of people are making token efforts (wearing masks, etc.) but I'd bet money that most will still get their families together for turkey day next week despite warnings from the CDC and others. Anyone who has been looking at the numbers recently should already be concerned, but it seems like skipping a minor holiday one year is too much to ask for most people. I expect to see the curve shoot even high up in the next few weeks, sadly.

I pretty much agree with everything you stated. While I simply can't completely shutdown, I am safe. I wear a KN-95 mask always, I order them by the #60 for $79 on Amazon; even get black ones now, that look a little better IMO. They are N95 grade, but not 'certified' and are from China. (Don't take from the N95 supply, leave for medical workers.) I socially distance. I do have to work, my country has not figured out a way to help... ME. So... I have to eat. I don't go out to restaurants or bars. I do meet my girlfriend, buts thats about IT... I don't visit or see other friends and family.

I give everyone else the same exact courtesys that I wish I could expect from them. In America, there are TONS of folks who refuse to 'believe' that this is an issue.... so, I'm stuck. I try to be as safe as I can, with still.. living. And I feel like I do more mitigation that the majority here.

I hope a vaccine helps to fix this problem; however, we both know thats going to take a year +/-. :ugh:

I recently made the decision to skip a trip to Ohio for normal family Thanksgiving. It sucks, I live in Portland without a tribe here... but my mother is 73 and lives with my sister. I just don't think its worth it.

Get on an airplace and go right to the house... it doesn't sound safe or intelligent. Pretty much the same for xmas and my kids who live in California. I might do some type of visit with them before or after, in a way that I can control a little better than while its the hectic holidays.

    Anyway... yeah; 2020!

Yea, frank... I know. But also, it sucks knowing that I'm not gonna have an awesome Thanksgiving feast.

I'm legit either thinking that I'll cool a small thing with this lady friend of mine, or I'm seriously gonna find some place around Portland that offers free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in need. I'm in need. I want my turkey and gravy. :P

For Canadian Thanksgiving, which was last month, we got one of those small frozen turkey breast rolls and cooked it. We had the rest of our family on the big screen TV via Zoom. Although not like having everyone together, it was an enjoyable evening. We even played some games via Zoom.

I'm sure it's the same for you in OR, but around here in the Bay Area almost all the resturants are offering a takeout version of the standard thanksgiving dinner. That's what we're doing. I ordered ahead and should be able to pick it up on Thanksgiving day.

You could also do the "Whole Foods" Thanksgiving Dinners, but those tend to get sold out real quick. Costco also has a Thanksgiving Dinner that looks decent available in their deli chiller near where they have the rotisserie chickens.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Awesome; it'll only be me, so mics aren't needed, and I just want it on the big TV for me to see- I think I'll use my iPhone for mic/camera and just aircast to the big AppleTV. Should work for me. Maybe an iPad so it can shit on the table in front of me.

Listen, I'm almost right there with ya. No judgement, and it even sounds like you have everything you'll need!!!

While I do enjoy and use some premade meals, I'm still hoping that I can create some kind of Thanksgiving Day that still feels like normal. :P

I think I'm either gonna purchase a pre-cooked meal for 2-4 from Whole Foods or similar, or just cook a very small turkey. All the Whole Foods I've tried so far are sold out, but if I don't find something suitable by afternoon I'll just buy a small turkey tonight.

own protien, lol, although she won't be partaking in it. I'm pretty grateful that I have this one human to spend the afternoon with; we are kinda doing the holidays falling for eachother thing. :P Its pretty
    nice, during this pandemic stuff..

It's always nice to share you life with someone, even if they aren't a carnivore.
