Love Van Halen, although saw them in concert in 82 and it was the worst
concert I ever went to. I had crappy seats side stage and the entire night I got to watch David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony chugging Jack Daniels on the side and staggering all over the stage! Eddie was going to the other side of the stage and I am sure chugging booze, about 30 minutes in the singing got
    so bad people were leaving!

In my eyes, a really great studio group, but back then sucked live unless you were just as wacked out on something as they were..

PMFJI, I had side-stage seats for a Rush concert once. At first, I thought this is going to be the worst "show" experience. But it turned out to be a fine surprise. I could actually see all the masterful work of the drummer (which you wouldn't see if you were front-stage). From side-stage I could also appreciate when they stepped back and synchronized their play to stay on the beat. The side view was also much closer than some front row seating.

Sometimes side seats are good, these that I had were horrible, VH was
supposed to be on a rotating stage.. It was fun though watching Michael
Anthony chug Jack like it was water!!
