• looking for bulletin door

From xbit@77:77/10 to All on Thu Apr 29 08:11:38 2021
Looking for a dos based bulletin door. I found jp-bull2.zip here http://demonic.net/files.php?id=2 but it only supports like 5 or 6 bulletins. Just need a door that i can toss many door game top scores at. Any ideas?

Yeah, it's a bit basic. Not great. I could probably work something up that could be a lot nicer very quickly. Actually, you could use REFDoor 1.2 to EASILY script a similar bulletin viewer door.

Actually, it's a killer looking bulletin door. The lightbar and overall feel is perfect.

And thanks for the REFDoor suggestion, I'll review!

Just some context on why i'm even looking. In short, I rebuilt my Spitfire BBS that I ran in the early 90s. Using netserial as SF is not fossil aware. Anyway, I created a Operation Overkill menu with 25 maps (screen shot below). It would be cool if I had a way to show users what maps are actually being played so they can join in on active games.

https://i.imgur.com/wIrOx9f.png <-- remove map [Z] and add bulletin door. SF is silly and uses letters, not numbers so I can only have A-Z (minus [Q]uit and [G]oodbye) per menu segment.

So thining like I'm a OO user that just hit the game menu above i would want to know what game to play. If the bulletin door could point to a bunch of score files and report on when they were updated, that would be kickin'.

Nuff of the wall of text. Thanks jack phlash, I'll poke around REFDoor.

Really? I don't even remember it, but most of my publicly released modding output was trash, so I was guessing it was too. ;)

Yeah, I'm sure you could easy make it work the way you want without too much code. The syntax is a bit weird but I'm sure you'll conquer it quickly. If
    not, give me a yell.

Nice! Is that Spitfire board up? I haven't checked out a Spitfire BBS in
ages. I've never seen such an involved OO setup. Is that common and I'm
simply ignorant, or are you a weirdo? :P

    Yes... ;)

But really, I don't think its very common. I just get board and poke around asking myself what I can do next.

Awesome!! Thx for logging on paulie420 and yes, Sunrise has some old school classics that are quite fun =)

Thank you!!! And I can't tell you how much fun it is re-building. It brought back some amazing memories that hit me right in the retro feels <g>. Just like all you guys i spent so many late night hours working on this thing in the early 90s. SF is very basic vs. mystic/sync/others but its still "home" if you know what i mean.
