What are some of the weirdest BBS names people have come across?

Oh god. Network 23, Roach Motel, Evangelist Playground, Naked Night, and the list goes on and on. I designed an entire menuing system for a MajorBBS system back in the early 90s that dealt exclusively in p0rn (jpg/gif). The term "two chicks one cup" didn't start in the 2000s btw (cough, cough).

I have completely forgotten about Tucows. A southern Ontario favorite.

I have a somewhat memory of the first BBS I ever called with my 300 baud C64 modem. It was called The Musicians Guild and was only open in the evening. They had all sorts of MIDI files that took all night to download. Going to bed and then waking up with the ability to play the Star Wars theme was mind blowing.

Man, I know I've run across some truly bizarre ones. I'm struggling to
    remember them though.

From the not-so-distant past, a lot of people might remember the old Demonic/Zer0net telnet board "TIC" but a lot of people don't know it stood
    for "The Intestinal Catacombs". Eww...

Another one I always thought was bizarre was the old mega-popular MajorBBS board "Floating Pancreas". Used to have a ton of zines and text files you couldn't find anywhere else and an insane community, but I always thought it was a fucking strange name for a BBS. Intentionally, I'm sure, as those guys had a whole wacky, irrelevant brand of humor thing going on that fit the
    e-zine scene perfectly.

Darkstar was written by a local guy. I think back then, due to the high long distance costs, BBS culture was very local focused. You tended to find systems in area running software that was written or supported by someone local.

This is why FidoNet and QWK-based networks became so populare. You'd get one BBS, you'd call out to your hub who was in Zone 1 or 2 (which remained free), that person would call out to their hub. Next thing you know everything was amazing.

When I was about 10 or 11, my parents refused to get our home line set to unlimited local calling. Basically, the cheapened it with metered calling (something like 30 calls a month). When they got the first bill, it was somethin like $200. Of course, they made me pay it. I finally told them that I'm getting my own lines (yes, lines), and going to keep them unlimited.

My dad, a couple years later, started calling BBSes a lot. Next thing you know he got a $200 bill. All of a sudden they change their plan to unlimited. SERIOUSLY WTF!?!?

What are some of the weirdest BBS names people have come across?

Only one I can think of that was weird from back in the day was Terminal
Frost, named after a Pink Floyd song. Not that weird, I guess.

Looking through my old GT Power dialing directory, there was one called
The Microdot, which I believe was a drug reference. Dance of Shiva,
Hell's Half Acre, and Edge of the World were a few others.

I think the Microdot was a WWIV board, but I cannot remember what the
others were. Most of the BBSes that were around while I still lived in the Louisville area had pretty ho-hum names like the Help Line, Kentucky
Online, the Pirate's Cove, the Programmer's Toolbox, the Chess Board, and
    Moe's Tavern.

Certo Cito, Legal Eagle (sysop was a lawyer), Death From Above, Tucow (when itwas just a BBS and not some giant ISP/CDN), Tay Monster (Tay a major riverin my home town), Willy Warbleton's Hairy Banana, The Dragon & Fizban,

I have completely forgotten about Tucows. A southern Ontario favorite.

You know, TUCOWS - while I dunno if its the same owner(s) or not - became TING mobile after Windows didn't need an app serving site anymore.

I used TOCOWS a lot way back when; kinda the first app-store ever.

I remember Wile E Coyote [or another with the same name] back in the day.

Poor guy, spent so much money at ACME and never did catch that roadrunner.

I'm not sure if it's the same group. "The Ultimate Collection Of Windows Software", or TUCOWS, is a local Toronto based company that was a one stop shopping outfit for windows software. They are still around but focus on domain registration. I remember reading somewhere that they are the second largest domain registrar in the world.

They are still kicking and still employ a shit load of peeps.

Yea, them.. I did a deep dive on TUCOWS a year and a half ago, and TUCOWS owns TING - that pay for what you use cell service company.. I mean sure, they may be separate companies - but same people/entity.

I think its pretty cool that they pivoted and still have TUCOWS kicking too.

I was and still am a big fan. As a kid I LOVED everything he wrote.

I met Douglas Adams at a book signing in Texas in the 80s. After the event
was over he asked me if there was a place in the mall where he could get a beer. Ha Ha, a beer in the mall in Texas in the 80s. The Brits are so funny.

My next one will be named Realm of Pancreatic Distortion. That should group together all the commonly used words.

Realm of Pancreatic Distortion sounds like a great name for a Death Metal band.

Back in the early to mid 90s, here in 705 (Peterborough and area, Ontairo Canada) we had 'Yak-Yak' and 'Babble Base' which I always liked, since they were heavy into message base.
'First Door on the Left' was unique, as the SysOp's bedroom where the computer sat was literally the first door on the left when you walked down the hallway in his parents house.

Fun & Games was a good one, as it was mainly game doors.

Around 1994 or 1995 a lot of new BBSes started up that revolved around Metal etc.. as has been said. The Abyss, Bloody Casket, etc..

    Miss those days. :)

There weren't that many BBSes available around Bracebridge where I grew up. The biggest was Prime Time BBS which was run by Chris Portway out of a resturant he owned just south of Gravenhurst. He had local numbers available in Orillia & Bracebridge so his user base was quite large, making the door games fun to play. He was running PCBoard, which I remember being impressed with, as the cost of a PCBoard license was way out of reach for my teenage salary.

I was good friends with his daughter (who was somewhat of a bad influance - I came home on day with my hair dyed black & wearing a Marilyn Manson t-shirt. My mom took one look at me when I came home, and starting laughing her head off).

My family went for dinner to his resturant one day, and when he found out who I was, invited me back to see his BBS. I remember being somewhat surprised
at the setup, several computers networked together with coax, modems plugged in here, there & everywhere. I forget how many nodes he had, but it was way more than the 3 I was running.

I can still remember the day when his daugher called me up, crying, as Chris, her father had just passed away. From a heart attack if I remember
    correctly.
