• Soft CRs

From Al@21:4/106 to Avon on Fri Jan 24 00:27:32 2020
    Hello Avon,

I'm seeing doubles of some of Spectre's messages again, one with Soft CRs intact and another with the Soft CRs removed with 1/100 in the path.

Maybe we could bring this changing of mail in transit to g00r00's
attention while he is active along with the word wrapping so he can
ponder what can be done about that?

    Ttyl :-),
    Al

just convice the hubs that they shouldn't run buggy software

or restructure re fsxnet so that mails touched by mystic bbs never get forwarded to a non-mystic system.

I agree. Could you post a summary of what you know (Oli feel free to chip in also) if I start that thread over in the Mystic echo. I don't feel I have enough detail crystallized in my brain to sum it up overly well but I can
    make a start.

It's an experimental network Oli, it comes with the territory...

As far as I remember there is the issue of mail getting changed in
transit. Messages are getting changed (word wrapped) when passing through Mystic (or mutil) when they get sent on to other nodes.

There was the issue of seen bys too. That's being worked on now and if
not resolved I think it will be pretty quickly now.. :)

There was something about UTF-8 also that I didn't understand well
myself. Maybe we should leave that alone for now but bring it up to
g00r00 so he knows it's something that needs work.

The last thing (that I know of) is the Soft CRs being dropped my mystic (mutil). I sometimes see dupes of messages that contain Soft CRs because
they are left as they are by most tossers but dropped by Mystic.

That's all I can think of now, if I think of more I'll pass it on.. :)
