    Hi

So I've noticed these MRC meetins are somewhat popular. (They'd have to
be right?) Would anyone be interested in a meet up over a chat for
Magicka Sysops? Obviously not on MRC, but either via MagiChat or IRC?

I'm looking at Tiny, djatrophine, Blue White and vk3jed (possibly more
sorry if I don't know about your bbs) I'm thinking MagiChat might be the
go seems it's built right into your bbs (and has been for years) there is
a door available and a GUI client for others not running magicka who may
for whatever reason want to take part.

What I envisige such a meeting to be? Maybe just you guys reminding me of
stuff I'm meant to work on. it might give us a chance to brainstorm
together though, because I'm honestly at a point where magicka does
everything I want it to, so I need people to bug me if they want
    improvements.

What Time? I dont know, Tiny's in canada, not sure about blue white and djatrophine - i think in the US? vk3jed and I are in Eastern Australia.
So I guess sometime that fits us all.

Well let me know if you are interested.

Why don't you have a chat with StackFault and see if you can get all the information about building a Multi-Relay Chat client / multiplexer for
Magica? Then you can join in with all the other platforms that have done the same and join the MRC meetups like so many are doing =)

Right now, MRC has clients for (as far as I can remember)
Mystic (Original by Gryphon updated by StackFault)
    Synchronet (echicken)
Enigma (RiPuk is finishing it up now and hopefully released v.soon)
    Cyber BBS (Nugax)
    c/Net / AmiExpress (I think, not 100% sure - )

I think there are others in the mix but I don't recall which platforms.

It would be sweet to add another platform to the mix, why don't you give it a try? Then MagicaBBS sysops can join in the MRC fun too and bridge another gap =)

    Best wishes,
    Christian.

Unless things change with the server.. ie it gets released, I'm not
interested in expending the effort in something that might just vanish
when the server operator vanishes. Sure, it's not like MRC is that
complicated and it's fairly easy to reverse engineer, but why?

Right now, MRC has clients for (as far as I can remember)
Mystic (Original by Gryphon updated by StackFault)
    Synchronet (echicken)
Enigma (RiPuk is finishing it up now and hopefully released v.soon)

That's nice, and no one thought of writing a door, that *everyone* could
use. If someone else wants an MRC client for magicka, they are free to
code one, but right now we have MagiChat, which will work on any linux / windows BBS in addition to Magicka.

It would be sweet to add another platform to the mix, why don't you
give it a try? Then MagicaBBS sysops can join in the MRC fun too and
    bridge another gap =)

Another aritficial gap. The gap wouldn't have been there if they chose an
open platform, ie IRC, or at least opened up the MRC protocol.

Anyway, this isn't about MRC, I was asking if Magicka sysops if they want
to meet up for a chat, i'm not fussed if we do it on IRC or MagiChat.

I was and would still be running Magicka on my Amiga 4000, running debian linux. But the system has suffered
a hardware issue in the native video system. As Amiga OS needs to be started first, before launching linux,
    I'm stuck.

The machine still functions fine with the added on video card in Aos 3.9, but native video is needed first to
even install RTG video system. (Think pc on a built in vga at 640x480 before installing drivers to use a
better card and a higher res).

I've got a chicken and egg situation.

Yep, won't happen this weekend, perhaps next weekend? I'm guessing

Hehe cool! I just added optional logging to the gui client, so I can post

a web version of the chat on my fat sandwich website, so if worst comes
to worst you can just load up a browser and chat that way.

I can try for next weekend. Although if weather is nice I am
rebuilding deck at the trailer Saturday, HOWEVER there is still a 90%
chance I will be coming home after and not sleeping there. Depends on
my friend who's helping me, if we stick with coffee we will come home,
if we end up drinking we will have to stay there. LOL

If opposite is easier (Our morning) I can normally arrange that as
well. I leave it to the masses to decide. Also as I wake up at 3am
for work I'll only be around until 9ish and I /may/ fall asleep on the
    keyboard. LOL

I'll get the GUI client updated here!

That would definitely rule me out on Sunday mornings. Conflicts with track or gym training. Saturdays would be possible, but squeezed between Parkrun and cross country. :)

<GRIN> I forgot that Eastern extends pretty far West when one crosses the boarder. It was weird crossing into Central in Kentucky, remaining in it
as I made it to Duluth (the farthest West I have ever driven), and then crossing back into Eastern when I crossed into Canada, even though I was
still much farther West than I had been on most of my trip.
