• v0.7 Hatched

From apam@21:1/126.1 to All on Wed Dec 2 12:09:30 2020
    Hi

    I just hatched v0.7.

Servo now has a multiallow.ip file which is a list of ips allowed to
connect more than one at a time.

Talisman has lots of little improvements requested by paulie, including signature support, feed back on new user, plenty of bug fixes etc.

Toolbelt has a new "movefile" action, which as you can probably guess,
moves a file, both physically and in the databases.

The big ticket item is of course Postie, a new tosser/scanner for
talisman. It's still pretty experimental, so don't use it on fidonet.

Documentation has been updated with all the new stuff.

Looking forward to more bug reports, feature requests and improvement
    ideas :)

    Andrew

Its really awesome that I'm able to run this new BBS software, even if only as a sister-BBS to 2o fOr beeRS... I'm having fun setting up an entire 'apam bbs' and have most of your door software up and running; I even got MagiChat going which was giving ME some issues, but shouldn't be hard for anyone else to get going...

Happy that you added some of the features I was missing - and trust that you know I'm just giving feedback and that you don't NEED to implement everything I suggest... I'm just having fun and posting the things that come up in MY USE...

All in all, its been fun - and I will get v0.7 installed just as soon as I can. :P Jesus, you know I'm gonna go throw it on right now. :P Lol...

Its really cool what you do for BBSing, apam... I'm happy to be here.

I intend to get HappyNet up and running, hopefully with Postie... I also want to add FSX_DAT just to run your other TALISMAN mods like interbbs oneliners and last callers. I really like how the TALISMAN interbbs last callers looks - like a normal last callers list, but with network info and not much beep boop flash. :P Cool stuff..

I'm sure I'll keep posting my ideas, and you are able to pull and poke at what you like - leaving the rest on the cutting room floor. No worries...

    :P

Wowzers, this is great. Any pointers on moving away from hpt (running talisman v.6) to Postie in v.07?

Probably the most important one is to update your archivers.toml with the signature / offset fields. It's used by postie to determine archive type,
but not used in any of the other programs.

Other than that, there is a postie.toml example, and more information on
    the docs site.

I'd take a backup of your HPT setup so if you decide to go back it's easy.

I got it configured, just have an issue that the netmail base doesn't exist
so it won't toss and I'm at a loss as to how to create it. I suppose I
could just use fastecho to create it but was trying not to do too many work
    arounds.

Do you mean that the squish base doesn't exist? Because it should auto
create that - providing the directories exist.

In the postie.toml example the netmail base is set as fsx/netmail, so you
would need an fsx directory within your message base directory.

Question... Does Talisman automatically kick off a toss when messages are received? Or do I need to touch a semaphore w/Binkd?

No, you need to run your tosser from binkd, use something like:

    exec "/home/pi/bbs/postie_toss.sh" *.[mwtfsMWTFS][oehrauOEHRAU][0-9a-zA-Z] *.pkt

I have a feeling that setting up this FTN is gonna be a tough task for me. HOWEVER, I'm gonna dig in this weekend and attempt to get HappyNet going on TALISMAN using Postie, and possibly add FSX_DAT for the interbbs abilities. :P Not a complete rundown, but does anyone who's done this have any pointers to look out for? Linux install...

It seems pretty much all of my mistakes have been do to TOML, so I went
to the webpage linked and did a bit of reading. Other then that I struggled
with the paths of the message base a bit, once apam explained it makes sense.
