• Magicka Beta

From apam@21:1/126 to ALL on Thu Nov 14 16:48:40 2019
    Hi guys..

Now that I've finished adding flags.. I'm wondering what else Magicka
    needs?

I think the resetting pointers option could have an area selection before
it, rather than work on the current area as now that it's in it's own
menu it's a bit less obvious.

Other than that, I'm not really sure what else to add. So I'm thinking,
perhaps we should make a list of must haves, then I will look at making a
    beta version.

I'm thinking of going back to the old way of having two branches, this
time beta and master, where beta will only be bug fixes, master will be
alpha and get the new stuff.

We could call it Magicka 1.0Beta and then work towards a final version
    for 1.0.

perhaps a seclevel tool too. We need that, I don't want people to have to
edit databases with sqlite3 at all.

Also, who would be interested in running beta and who alpha? I guess
there's not much point in spinning off a beta if everyone wants to stick
    with alpha.

    Hi guys..

I got the whole message here, with only one tearline at the bottom.

perhaps a seclevel tool too. We need that, I don't want people to have
to edit databases with sqlite3 at all.

Maybe just create a userbase tool that has it all? userdel, changing
sec levels / flags / etc etc.

Also, who would be interested in running beta and who alpha? I guess there's not much point in spinning off a beta if everyone wants to
    stick with alpha.

I'm okay right now sticking with alpha. You're always careful about
using new branchs when you change anything major. I wouldn't worry
about that part of it. Unless you get to a 1.0 release then obviously
you'd have to have a branch just for the stable version.

Thanks for this, yep it's come via NET 4. And Al also mentioned his looked amiss. I'll check on NET 4 tonight when I can and see how the message
displays in 4/100. Will keep everyone posted.

I know Dan has had some issues with the HUB and I wonder if some of the JAM bases are in some way corrupted?

Maybe just create a userbase tool that has it all? userdel, changing

I'm thinking I might make a perl frontend to all the user tools. So you
can select users then it will run the tool in the background type of
    thing.

That sounds pretty neat! It might make it easier to run the tools vs.
trying to remember which tool is needed and what command line options are needed (if they are command line tools).

Sure that works too. ;) If I don't get back to work soon I may end up
writing a frontend tool in pascal. hahaha I'm getting seriously bored.

A user editor with options to reset/change password & security levels.

I'm the only user on this system, but being able to reset user settings
    would be an advantage.
