Here in Canada people using the McDonalds app found that their credit cards were getting charged for meals in other cities. It wasn't until a prominent tech writer here in Canada got charged more than $2000 over the course of 6 days back in 2019 that it received very much attention:

McDonald's claims this issue has since been fixed.

I know nobody who uses McDonald software here.

Burger King is displacing McDonads as the junk food provider for casual visitors. McDonalds is setting restaurants in "industrial" complexes in order to serve workers and that sort of thing, while Burger King is setting restaurants in places with a big afluence of common people.

Which means I see more people using the Burguer King app, for the discounts. Most of them from low-income collectives.

I have long ago given up any of these fast food joints. I know they are cheap and quick and way too easy... but I won't put anything they sell into my body. I do eat fast food, but the likes of Chipolte and Cafe Yumm are where I start.

An app for buying $3 hamburgers - no thanks!! :P

I *never* install apps from any business. When you install them why do they need access to my contacts, photos, etc? Data Mining! Sorry, I'll pay full price on things to help keep my data secure.

It works well enough for me, but I wished it didn't. It's too easy to pull into one of the pickup spaces and order online instead of going through the drive-through. The harder it is to get McDs for me, the better. :)

Although I do like their coffee - for the price and convenience it's hard to beat.

I try using it and the app fails to load. Its not a good way to promote or encourage its use. I wish they dog food the app with some of their corporate campus people.

I have a lifehack you may find interesting.

First you get a friend that frequents the business you want an app-based discount for. You have HIM install the data mining app. Then you go with him into the business and enjoy the discount together. He pays with his data and you reap the benefits. Everybody is happy, including the sucker who is giving his data away.

We only eat at McD's when on a road trip, mainly because of my wife's
alergys, we know what she can order there and not get sick. (Prob because
the food is all made elsewhere in a factory)
