I have a laptop from 2011, it seems that when I tried to install a ssd on it,
it never perfectly booted where I ended up having to install its origial hard
drive instead. :(

I've serviced many laptops and seen this behavior happen with a few different laptop brands. The Sata controller may not work correctly withIt was a samsung laptop. I think the only best solution is to get a 7200 rpm laptop hard drive as a middle ground.
SSD's. The most common symptoms are not being able to partition the
drive or
write a boot sector despite the drive showing up in the BIOS.
