• Continued font question

    From Richard Vonzel@1:103/705 to All on Sun Apr 16 09:13:26 2023
    Is there a font for Syncterm/Synchronet called ANSI-BBS, and if so where could I get it?

    Thanks,
    Richard

    No. What would such a font look like?

    The fonts that come with Synchronet and SyncTERM are in the "fonts" directory for each, respectively.

    Maybe he's getting confused with the tic/termcap ansi-bbs entry that's
    in the install directory.

    Let me ask you this, when you log into your system, I assume with Syncterm, are you using the "codepage 438 English" font? If not which one are you using?

    Thanks,
    Richard

    I'm not aware of such a font. Did you mean to ask about CP437? That's the default font for SyncTERM in graphics modes. It's also the font that Vertrauen will enable in SyncTERM for normal-attribute (non-blinking, normal-intensity) text.

    If not which one are you using?

    It depends which mode SyncTERM is run in. SyncTERM only supports "fonts" in graphics modes (e.g. X11, SDL) and not in text modes (e.g. curses, Win32 console).

    It also depends on which screen mode SyncTERM is run in. If SyncTERM is run in a screen mode that uses an 8x16 font, then Vertrauen sets it to use special fonts (that are included with SyncTERM) for blinking and high-intensity text.
    This is the relevant section in Vertrauen's ctrl/fonts.ini file:

    [default:16]
    normal=cp437
    high=digital
    blink=gothical
    highblink=computer
