• Read/Unread list message on WinPoint Veleno

From Thomas Bampi@2:333/808 to All on Fri May 29 09:26:18 2020
    Hello All!

Finally on WinPoint Veleno BBS i managed to make the difference between the read and unread ones work on the list of messages of the areas. The function is
active for all users, the only thing you need to do is customize your theme by adding the following line and then selecting it:

"COLOR MENU UNREAD <color> on <color>" example:
"COLOR MENU UNREAD Yellow on Red"

In the various themes already set, this option is not present.
If you have problems leave me a message.

I don't see an indicator anywhere which tells me which theme I'm
using. The theme editor menu always defaults to theme01 but how do I
know which theme I'm actually using?

from the main menu go to: "9. settings" then "1. change Golded+ theme" and find
them the list of all the various themes with the number and name of the author,
the number "26. By Customized User "is the one customized by you and you will have to select it.
To customize it go to: "9. settings", "7. customize theme" and your theme will open with an editor, make all the necessary changes and save it. Remember once saved that you will have to restart Golded+ to make the changes you have made effective.
Unfortunately the system still does not tell you which theme you are on but I'm
    working on it !.

We, as webpoint users, each have our own yourname.CFG file. It matches the settings in the last theme you select.

I simply opened up the yourname.CFG file assigned to me (via the 7. Customised Theme, 26. Customized User) and then plopped in the COLOR MENU UNREAD line that
I wanted. Save it. Restart Golded+. Then the next time it runs, the change in yourname.CFG will take effect.

Not sure if changing the theme at this point will undo the setting I put in the
last theme I used, but I'm not going to try that right now. I am getting the UNREAD highlighting I was looking for now.

Thank you for enabling the HIGHLIGHTUNREAD. My custommization works.

Yes.. that is too bad the system does not indicate which theme is active. I certainly cannot remember it myself! LOL.

Fine, I understand that but before making any changes, I thought I would change the theme and then make changes to the new theme but I find that I can't do that. After selecting a different theme and then restarting
GoldED, the theme doesn't change. I've tried this numerous times and the theme never changes ??

There was a problem in selecting themes from the transition to the custom one to the ones already set. In addition, the system now specifies which current theme you are in.

I can confirm that I'm now able to change themes without any problems and that I can now see an indicator against the theme I'm using, thank you.

Yes.. that little reminder which theme # at the top of the "Change Golded+ theme" is good!

Did you configure the HIGHLIGHTUNREAD the way you want?

My previous setting (yellow on red) is gone, but the default one for the last theme I switched to is good enough.

Nope and for the moment, I've given up on it because no matter what
changes I make to the theme file, my changes don't seem to "stick".

    Example:
I changed the quote colour from "Yellow on Black" to "Green on Black" and added the line which is supposed to change the default colour of unread messages to Cyan on Black.

After restarting GoldED, the quote colour is still Yellow on Black and
unread messages are shown in Green on Black ???

Hi Martin, I allowed myself to log in with your account to double check everything and the parameters you have entered are correct and the system works.
Now I put the colors red on black and actually if I go to one of your linked areas I ask for the list of messages with the "L" key. The unread ones I see them in the color I have chosen.
I noticed that you had the theme nr. 10 this only works if you choose your own theme and not with the others!

    Bye

OK, four months later and I've finally found the time to have another look at this but during those four months, something's changed. I can load my golded colour config file into the text editor but I cannot navigate my way through the file. If I press the <Down-Arrow> key I would expect the cursor to move down to the next line but it doesn't move at all. Instead, it outputs a high-ascii character to the console. Same thing happens if I press the <Page-Down> key - Huh!

I'll attach a screenshot to a netmail and crash it to your system, please check your inbound.
