Well I got Winpoint running at least, but I installed it on my 32bit emulator, checked for 64 bit and it works but to no avail of traffic.

I guess I will have to wait for traffic.

Very fast setup and tons of German, since I am a huge VW fan I guess I can live
    with some German for now.

I like how huge everything is The text is awful small though.

    will look into it cheers.

WinPoint is an odd mix of English/German for sure. I received a tonne of help with it in the last year or so. Maybe try to get a rescan of the
POINTS echo and look for the WinPoint threads. You can also dig up old threads at the echomail archive here:

    https://www.ipingthereforeiam.com/bbs/msgs/

iptia is a great resource because you can actually S)earch for messages
    and follow a thread.

The icon toolbar design is very good and quite modern. But you can adjust some font characteristics from Extras/Options/Display.

    Hello Terry!

Winpoint is a windows-gui program. It is not possible to copy-paste into goggle translate. The "words" are part of the button/graphic.

    Eg:

    [1] http://pics.rsh.ru/img/wp-1_8tf5jx5h.jpg
    [2] http://pics.rsh.ru/img/wp-2_qkqa7x44.jpg
    [3] http://pics.rsh.ru/img/wp-3_0jm9slva.jpg

And.. by the time I commit some of the words to memory and reach
translate, I forget the proper spelling.

Only a few places in Windows have icons with the words, so the function is easier to figure out. Eg [1] above.

But somethig like [2] and [3] is harder to work with.

If I were to use Winpoint more often, something like Abschicken is funny enough and easy enough to remember, so.. it wouldn't be that bad afterall.

I concur. I find that most top posters include the whole original post
and don't bother to remove the irrelevant (stinky) parts. But then I
guess each person has their own sense of smell. :(

bottom posting is ok but in-line is much preferred since it is a more
conversational presentation and allows the reader to understand the flow
of the conversation much much better...

By bottom-posting I meant/include in-line, that is writing *after* the relevant text.

In-line is a fine fidonet original style.

Have you ever tried to modify internet email messages to in-line? I would use a combination of indent, bullets, italic, bold. It freaks out some people that you reply to! :)

Some "devices" would be inconsistent on how they handle bullets, then it
is hard to understand who wrote what.

Now I am running it on my 32 bit machine via LM Manager, a tcp KVM. That works OK.

Guess I will use this one for my point work.

I want more NETS, such as SCINET and others.

Can Winpoint be used to be a point off of other Nets?

there are two options .. both are selected within the setup ...

    so download the new package
    http://winpoint.org/WP_407.zip
and extract the zip package into a temp directory
    from there start winpoint setup.exe
run the setup.exe with administrative privileges
    select the language (eg English)
Next - Next - Accept the License Agreement - next
    select the installation directory ...
if you've installed a previous release, you'll probably get
the installation path presented in the destination field
    Next

    the next window is essential:
    [ ] Overwrite existing configuration

    Option 1:
set the checkbox starts a fresh clean install and overwrites
    the previous installation.

    Option 2:
let the checkbox unchecked installs the new executable and
merges the "old" installation parameters with addtl. new parameters to an updated
installation. So if you still have echo folders configured, the old echo folders
keeps intact; your point configuration keeps intact (sysop name, bossnode info)

continue with the setup option 1 or option 2

I need to know how to completly remove it from other Windows 10 machine I use.

To completely remove WinPoint, do the following(AT YOUR OWN RISK) .....

[1] Delete the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\New.Vision.Software\Winpoint

    [2] Delete "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\WinPoint"

    [3] Delete "C:\Program Files (x86)\WinPoint"

[4] Delete any/all WinPoint shortcuts you may have

[5] If there's any WinPoint stuff on your Windows Start Menu, delete it all

    Regards,
    Martin

Sorry I could not find WinPoint on the BBS.

My problem after installing 4.07 on my fresh Windows 10 64 bit machine
is that it keeps wanting 2: for the first addressing while writing a
letter and it does not go out.

NOW it comes up with "List Index out of bounds:
    Language is German.

Could someone punt this one to WinPoint for me.

I am in a BBS editor (Doc's Place). Will ask him for Winpoint.
