    Hallo Martin,

OpenXP 5.0.51 has been released and is available for download from the following URLs .....

Thank you all very much for this new release!
I've just installed it and am trying it :)

Also available on the POINTSOFT FDN, file area = OPENXP

Do you have some information on this FDN (file distribution network?)?
How could a BBS join it?

    Thank you!

    Regards,
    Anna

OPENXP is a file area for OpenXP files, there is also an area called WINPOINT where WinPoint files are hatched. These new versions were just hatched and hour ago and should be making the rounds now.. :)

You should be able to connect at your usual file hub. If the area(s) are not found ask your hub why not!

You can also connect here at The Rusty MailBox for any mail/file areas. Send me a netmail if you would like to do that. That is easy and painless.

I messed up the first hatch on the 27th. I have corrected my error and rehatched just a short time ago. These files should be making the rounds now.

Yep, that worked but there was an unexpected side effect. Not only did it decode the encoded parts but it also encoded the unencoded parts of the message.

Yep.. the pre-existing Block Function. I was unaware of it!
The program needs an overall F1 context search. ;) ..or my openxp.kolico.ca solution needs a major revisit to include it.

Yep, that worked but there was an unexpected side effect. Not only did it decode the encoded parts but it also encoded the unencoded parts of the message.

I doubt that an entire message would need to be encoded, so
there will always be a part that is "normal" which will get
    toggled to ROT13.

Anyway.. it's nice to see that function useable.

When I reached the parts were there are additional helps WITHIN
the helps, I realized that the www online solution would need
"links" within the those help panels (such as in the Block
Functions help section). Adding links manually and making sure
the resultant panel is complete ('cuz some of those 3rd-level/
4th-level parts are more than one screenful!) ..is a lot more
    time-consuming than I thought.

    Really :-)

Although I said it would be nice to have such a feature, I'm not convinced that it's actually needed. In addition, I feel that it would be an
    absolute nightmare to implement.

I know the feeling well because when I first offered to maintain the
English resources, I thought it would be a doddle but here we are some 20 years later and they're still nothing like finished. Even though they're plain ascii text files, I inherited a mess and they're a nightmare to work on.

    3. Encrypted, encoded or rotated messages are forbidden.

This is a rediculusly formulated sentence! That can be interpreted in all kind of ways!

"encoded" What do you mean? Every message posted here is encoded in ASCII or variants.
So every message ever posted in this area is in voilation of the rules...

"rotated message" What is that? And messages with partially rotated text are ok? And why would you forbid it anyway? It makes no sence whatsoever...

    Bye, Wilfred.
