that's easy enough... they're recorded in the log as being inaccessible ;)

i've never worried about them and was really glad that i had the rsync backup i
did when my previous RA/FD/RE system went TITSUP (Total Inability To Support Usual Processing)... it made it a lot easier to be able to carry things forward
into the new setup running a completely different package that wasn't cobbled together with shoestrings and bubblegum :)

Yeah sure, as long as the backup works and is accesible.
I had a complete mirror backup on a Win10pro machine that wasn't
accesible when needed. After making the backup Windows even did a check
and told the user that the b-u was successful.

What log? I'm not an expert of this but:

i always record a log... 99% of the time i tee the stdout and stderr to the same log file so i can see everything as it flows by on the screen and can go back later to look closer at something that may have caught my eye... or not...
the script i posted shows the log rotation and how i redirect the output to the
log...
