I need to shave daily, if I'm going to keep up with it,

I have a friend, lives out west now, who had to shave everyday or he
sprouted a full beard over night. :)
He's worn a beard all the years I've known him (40+) and only seen him
clean shaven once or twice. I told him the first time I knew why he had a beard. :)
    I prefer being clean shaven.
    After three days I have a 5 o'clock shadow.
The boss relaxed the rules a couple of years ago and allowed employees to have beards. I think that looks awful for security people who are seen by
    the public. Call me old-fashioned.
And don't get me started on the ones with piercings, rings in their ears, tattoos and the rest. Some look like security should be keeping an eye on them.

I have one of those one-handed electric ball shavers for my skull

I have never understood why some men shave their heads and grow a beard.

We had same, but farther out, in the big city, $6 for a men's cut, but they don't do men'sa any more (not enough interest

I don't recall why the barber college here closed. Could have been the
same reasons but they always seemed to have customers and students.
No idea where new barbers are trained. Probably some overprice
    hoity-toity beauty school.
There are four or five barber shops within a couple of blocks of my apartment.
I may get into trouble for this.
Several summers ago (before I retired the first time) this guy was on
campus saying he visiting from San Francisco and asked if there was a barber shop near by.
There were two across from campus and I pointed them out saying "The one
on 16th St is black and the one around the corner on 4th Ave is white".
    (That is their main clientele).
He gave me a strange look and said ok and I went on my way.
I chuckled to myself for an hour wondering what kind of story he would
tell the folks back in SF. LOL

    Joe,

It looks like they fell into a fishing tackle box with an artist's paint palatte. :P

    Beard on face;
    Bald on top.
    Wish I could

There is still one in downtown North Little Rock...but I can't get out
to see...we're iced in from a night of heavy sleet, some freezing rain,
and some snow. At least my area (so far) has kept power.

    I prefer being clean shaven.

I would if it wasn't so much daily humdrum effort, & I didn't have such a faty face. . .

    After three days I have a 5 o'clock shadow.

If I could go two days apart for sgaving, I'd keep clean-shaven, too.

The boss relaxed the rules a couple of years ago and allowed employees to have beards. I think that looks awful for security people who are seen by the public. Call me old-fashioned.

I'm with you; Iu guess we're both old-fashioned; sanme for bus drivers. I like to sees a crisp uniform & clean shaven, & no damned earphones listening to the hockey game on their pocket radio -- you need to be johnny-on-the-spot when someone has a question, &/or you're calling out transfer points (not that most bother any more)

Yup, the tuinmes they are a-changing! *sigh*

I try to roll with them, but it's harder for some than others.

I have preferences, but so what? We all do. .

If the majority are against a change, it tends to change back or to some thing else entirely.

We even had a 12% sales tax canceled a few years ago, through well-rganised public momentum!

And don't get me started on the ones with piercings, rings in their ears, tattoos and the rest. Some look like security should be keeping an eye on them.

Yup, I hate when someone has a tongue piercing & they're Sylvester the Cat spit-lisping all over my food or coffee!

I know what the tongue piercing denotes, & no thank you, I'm good. I don't allow hardware near Russel. (Russel the Love Muscle)

I have never understood why some men shave their heads and grow a beard.

To each their own; I get a horridly itvvhy scalp & my last dermatologist recommemnded I keep it bare & allow UV to cook it as much as possible --i.e. don't wear a hat, even on cloudy days.

As I said, my beard hides my fat pallid cheeks.

No idea where new barbers are trained. Probably some overprice
    hoity-toity beauty school.

Was chatting up a cutie near the vocational college; she was a foreign student here taking hairdressing & learning English -- she paid $20K/year tuition just for the hairdressing course, & found free ESL English clases, to save money for paying for supplies & living money!

Not your problem--nmp trouble to worry abnout getting into; just walk away; you spoke naturally without prejudice or agenda. It was up to him to ask for clarification, like "how does it matter what colour they are?"

I go out of my way to not give offense, but I do not accept responsibility just because some people choose to TAKE offense.

I'm sorry you misunderstood me; & I'm sorry you're the type to assumne the worst about someone. Have a nice day. . . . somewhere else!

Yep. I prefer the old days when people dressed nicely in public, not
like they had rooted around in the dark for just anything to put on.
At work I listen to podcasts on my phone I've downloaded and use only one Bluetooth ear bud. The volume is down low enough so I can hear what's going
on around me and if speaking to someone that earbud is either turned off (pausing the podcast) or removed,
I have often been to 10 feet from a student with earphones/buds in and
can hear what they are listening to. I can only imagine their hearing
    problems in the future).

or you're calling out transfer points

Our buses have a recording that says things like the upcoming street is whatever.
One of the most annoying messages is when the turn signal is on and its announced in a very loud voice "this bus is making a left/right turn" over
and over until the flasher is turned off.

Yup, the tuinmes they are a-changing! *sigh*

And not always for the better.

    tattoos and the rest.

I was reminded after I wrote that: Never get a tattoo where the judge can
    see it. :)
Of course now some of the judges are inked up themselves I imagine.
I wonder how many people when they get older will ask themselves about
being inked off over "What was I thinking?"
At least back in my day a lot of foolish things weren't permanent.

don't wear a hat, even on cloudy days.

I very rarely ever so outside bareheaded.
In the winter I wear a wool cap (one light for cool days, one heavy for
cold days) and my cap. And I wear a cap year round. In the summer to keep
the sun out of my eyes.
People say they won't wear one because it messes up their hair. I would rather have messy hair than pneumonia.
Nor do I wear shorts outside. Even to take out the trash. Though I did
    once and felt half naked.
People always say the more clothes I have on the better I look. :)

like "how does it matter what colour they are?"

I recall one time talking about someone, something silly they said or
did. Later the person I was telling this to asked why didn't I mention the fella was black. I asked "what difference did it make?" and they had no reply.
Unless its pertinent to the story/conversation a persons skin colour
    means nothing to me.

I'm sorry you misunderstood me; & I'm sorry you're the type to assumne the worst about someone. Have a nice day. . . . somewhere else!
