From JOE MACKEY@1:123/140 to DARYL STOUT on Fri Feb 21 07:00:00 2020
    Joe,

With cable I never worry about storms.
When I had a land line modem I would unplug it when a big storm was due.
Plus I have wifi on the laptop, tablet and phone if something happens to
    the pc or router.

Well, I have a plan with Xfinity that if the cable modem gets zapped, they'll replace it for free. But, I disconnect the cables on the router,
    so it doesn't get fried.

I have a funky setup here, in that to get my desktop (BBS) and laptop computer, and what was my Mom's computer on the LAN, I have to:

    1) Run an ethernet cable from the cable modem to my LinkSys router.
    2) Run a return cable from the router to a network switch.
    3) My Mom's computer is connected to the network switch, as is the ADT
    alarm system camera.

But, that way, everything shows on the LAN.

Calling a business whenever they are open is something I don't mind.
Once years ago I was having cable problems and would call tech support
around 0500 or 0600 and always got in on the second or third ring. :)

It's a challenge if you live on one coast, and the customer service
line is on the other. Speaking of which, the time change to Daylight
Savings Time is 3 weeks from Sunday (March 8). You lose an hour of
sleep, but get an extra hour of daylight in the evening.

You don't know if they're telling the truth or are who are excellent JM>> liars.

Wait a minute!! That sounds like the folks in Washington, DC. <G>

Uh, a bit close to current events... :)

That's why I didn't go any further with the comment. <G>

    Daryl
