I only wat6ch sitcoms now where the main cast understand method acting (they are IN the character & scene as if they weren't just acting)

I noticed starting in the late '60s many sitcoms, with a live audience,
the actors seemed to shout their lines. Rather than speak in a normal voice they often yell.
They have microphones, they don't need to project to reach the audience member in the back row any longer.
I don't have a tv (haven't for years) so have no idea what's on tv now,
hot or not. The only times I know about a show is if its in the news for
some reason or others talk about it.

Makes sense to me; back then they were all drawn from the stage, & were used to "projecting" while speaking their lines.

Now, though, everyone's grown up & learned acting with mic-driven sound stages; they7 ofgten have a terrible time transferring to doing stage plays.

Some, they say, excel at both, like Patrick Stewart.
