Is the gate down? Mail in this area from the fidonet side in this
group
and the others isn't appearing here, for atleast 4 hours... Or maybe the
echomail feed for Stas is paused?
My post from about 1hr ago has not yet made it.
Unfortunately, sometimes my electricity goes out for a short time. The neighbors are renovating the apartment and turning off the whole
house. It also happens that I lose my connection to the Internet, but
this is not often and not very long. The node is at my home. The uninterrupted operation of its work cannot be compared with a data
center.

Is a UPS an option for you?

I use APC UPS Smart 750 with high capacity batteries (9Ah
instead of 7.2Ah). It is enough for about an hour of
equipment operation.
If it were a data center, there would be 2-3 independent
power lines, UPS with batteries for a day of work and an
automatically starting diesel generator, but I have a
home node. ;)
Since the batt is pretty old, maybe I should time it
unplugged. I expected it to operate longer than it did in the
recent storm we had here that knocked everything out for 24
hours.
We have a battery shop here in Hamilton (called Acme battery) that carries all shapes & sizes of batteries. We have 4 or 5 UPSs for various things here at home.
When a battery decides to bite the bullet, we bring it to Acme Battery who recycles the old one for us and sells us a replacement for about ~$30.

local garbage will, they recycle alkalines and rechargeables -
just not quite that big!
You might check with scrap metal dealers. I know that some around me accept some types of batteries.
