Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you :)

I made homemade cheese ravioli with semolina flour for Christmas :)

We weren't able to celebrate Christmas Eve this year (I usually make stuffed squid for Christmas Eve) because of a death in the family, maybe I'll make it sometime this month...

    Very Sad, sincere condolences. :(

If it can help somehow, my grand-grand father (The grand father of my father) died around easter (the recollections of my father are pale) suddenly without any notice, he was about 60.

My grandfather by father died in the day of easter meanwhile he was eating the "tortellini in broth", with all his family, my father told me that he smashed his face in the dish and after few hours he died (my father's recalls are really precise and sad about it), the doctor said it was due an aneurysm in the
    brain, he was around 50.

My Father had a brain aneurysm near Christmas about ten years ago when he was 68, a surgeon saved him but now he's half paralyzed but he's live.

Now I'm 52 and I've beat my grand grand father and my grand father, I've changed my lifestyle since I was 40 going to the gym everyday and pay attention
to the diet, and I'm waiting to see if I did the right thing. :)

Anyway, misfortunes occours generally on the holidays, I don't know why but it looks so.

Get your sad and put it in a special place in your mind, it's important to recall and it's important to step over, every new day is a new opportunity to do great things! ;)

Have a nice holidays and do the stuffed squid! :)

P.S. If you give me the recipe of the stuffed squid I can give you the recipe of the Brasato. ;)

    Hi Fabio!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you :)

I made homemade cheese ravioli with semolina flour for Christmas :)

    Wow compliments!!!! :)

Thank you :) The week before Christmas, I made about 90 of them and still have
about 30 left in my freezer. I use a Marcato ravioli form (it makes ten at a time with a metal frame and ravioli mold). It is like this one:

    https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/ravioli-mold-with-roller/

I usually do this every Chrismas in our house :) I think my son would cry if I
    did not make them <vbg>

This year I made the fettuccine by myself with semolina flour and fresh eggs, really relaxing! :)

Very very good to eat, and yes it is so relaxing, I agree completely!

I order Caputo semolina flour that is imported from Italy on Amazon.com <grin> It is SO great to use. Sometimes I make Olive oil cake with semolina as well (Extra-virgin oil). :)

We weren't able to celebrate Christmas Eve this year (I usually make
stuffed squid for Christmas Eve) because of a death in the family,
maybe I'll make it sometime this month...

    Very Sad, sincere condolences. :(

Thank you, Fabio, it was a sad loss. My husband's Aunt Gert was going to be 98 years old this February, she lived a long life, and was a wonderful, wonderful woman. She always bragged about my cooking to all her friends... I so glad I was able to know her.

If it can help somehow, my grand-grand father (The grand father of my father) died around easter (the recollections of my father are pale) suddenly without any notice, he was about 60.

    That is so young :(

That is so rough, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad he survived though. My father also had an aneurysm and surgery, but died of lung cancer in 2001. I still miss my father and my mother very much. My mother died in 2012 of various cancers...

Yes, you are lucky in that - When Mom was still alive, my sister in the state of Florida, USA, took care of her but Ron and I gave her a break and kept Mom here for about a year. At that time we did not get any help either ... but more
recently we took care of Ron's Aunt who was 97 before she died. We did have an

IMHO they did right. Remember that USA given to them the opportunities that Italy refused to them.

Under some points of view USA is a great Country, everyone has an opportunity to have a great and succesfull life, but I think that the Anglo-Saxon way of life is missing a bit the culture of solidariety.

There were times at the dinner table when my parents would speak Italian to each other if they did not want us children to be included in the conversation.
During those moments, I remember my mother scolding my father, saying "Your Italian is pathetic, you speak Italian like an old lady!!" haha.. he would reply with a string of expletives that I tried to remember :) I only remember a few of those, some related to "bust your gut" hehe

Under some points of view USA is a great Country, everyone has an opportunity to have a great and succesfull life, but I think that the Anglo-Saxon way of life is missing a bit the culture of solidariety.

I think that when my grandparents came to the U.S.A., it was true that so many had an opportunity to make a life for themselves here. My mother's father repaired Sewing machines, my father's father worked in coal mines. And yes, these days I think it is harder for new people coming to this country... very sad.

Grazie! Le lingue erano facili da imparare per me... :)

It's funny, when I was a small child, about 8 years old, I was reading an Encylopedia my parents owned (I couldn't find enough books to read!!)... there was a section that showed the French for the song "Frère Jacques" word for word
with English translation under each word :) I studied that for days I remember

cook Lol... My daughter is like me though, and she cooks just like I do :) She
has 3 sons so it makes sense. My son had a girlfriend for long long time, but they decided not to marry and then split up... Someday I'm sure he will find the right person :)

I'll be glat to look at your recipe, we can swap the recipes of the Tiramisu' (the u is with the accent ;) ) so we can look at the differences.

That sounds great, I will send it tonight to your system :)

    Buon Anno Nuovo. ;)

Buon Anno Nuovo a te :)

It's been too long though since I studied Italian, I am not sure if the endings
above are correct :( Time to dig up the books again <grin>

    Ciao!
