• Hello all, what would be the recommended Binkp/Binkd software to use

Hello all, what would be the recommended Binkp/Binkd software to use under DOS? I have been trying this wonderful tool called Indigo - which converts the BlueWave and . REP files into FTN-style packages, transforming BlueWave reader into a point system - but it doesn't have a suitable mailer.

I have been experimenting with Internet Rex, but would like to use an easier software - any recommendations will be more than welcome

I use OpenXP on my WinXP-based system. OpenXP is a "console-based" system, but I am not sure if it can just operate in a pure DOS environment. I'll try to find out. Meanwhile, you see what it looks like with the Screenshots at https://openxp.kolico.ca

It is great! If you want to give it a try, take a look at:

    https://www.softwolves.pp.se/sw/files/

You will be able to download Indigo 0.01 from there.

I have used OpenXP for a while, but unfortunately it can't be used for that. I needed a Binkp-compatible mailer, plain and simple

I thought that since you were "struggling" with converting QWK to FTN and needed a mailer, then an all-in-one solution like OpenXP would work.

But if you want to specifically build different parts and stitch them together as a working system, then power to you! :-)

I never actually used this in FreeDos, but it should work none the less -

Make sure you have the DOS drivers for your ethernet card. Once oyou install them, make sure to take note of the software interrupt number (I believe for network cards, it is 0x60 - atleast that is what it is for my Xircom PE3). You will need to supply this number to your TCP stack.

Microsoft Network Manager may work on FreeDOS, but I have never tried it. I would recommend MTCP as it is newer. When you configure MTCP, you will need to know the interrupt number of your ethernet driver.

MTCP should have documentation to walk you through configuring it. Sorry I can't help much further.

How ya gonna do it? PS/2 it!
