    Hi Nick,

How are things in AZ these days...

These days are our scorching summer. My favorite thing these days is riding my motorcycle but it's even too hot for that :-(

Other than that, things are fine. Same old same old. How are things up there? I have a friend in Windsor who is losing his mind waiting for the borders to open. Haven't really spoken to him in recent weeks, are they open yet?

To my knowledge its not open yet but should be soon. Toronto is moving to stage-3 re-opening this Friday apparently.

A very minor release to address possible "garbage" upon high-speed modem connections in certain rare conditions.

Sure its not the same issue but trying to display my new cool ansi as a loading bbs file has horrendous results. you get a few ansi code bits popping through and then it throws off the entire layout.

Im working on the parts of the file that glitch it out just wondering why that would do that? And I totally get if thats like never designed to display ANSI :D (but does work) ((almost)) WILL NOT display ANSImation however.

I figured out this issue. if the ansi is super complex it D'bridge won't display it properly. I took out alot of color changes to make the file much less bulky and its better. still got a few lines to work on.

Wondering what is the cause for this limitation?

That was one of the most incredible things happening in my life showing the non-planned things are often more worthwhile than the planned ones ... it definitely tops meeting my Belgian neighbour on a desolate trail in the Rockies, encountering my boss in New York City with his mistress, running into my daughter's and granddaughter's gym teacher in Atlanta with both of them present...

The world is sometimes so unbelievably small ...

Just curious, why you don't increment the version number with these
minor updates, like 4.238 or whatever, then 4.239...

It used to be that way, but with version 4 I guess it just stopped for no particular reason. But version 4 was dedicated to Roger Nelson and was to be the last of the DOS versions. Version 5 was going to be for modern OS's.

For many reasons I fell behind on porting/converting the code, and there is a database library D'Bridge is dependant on that just cannot be replaced or easily ported.

Guess it would be better to just rewrite the entire thing for modern OSes. Maybe have an instant messenger and BBS software all inclusive.

What you are proposing involves a great deal of complexity to do something that has already been done... There are most likely other programs that manipulate those formats to work with the open-source BinkD.
