• Dachshunds

From Daryl Stout@1:19/33 to ROGER NELSON on Fri Aug 4 08:03:00 2017
    Roger,

    But a doxy she isn't.

Now, let's not degrade weiner dogs...I'm biased to them. :)

Or as some items note, as follows:

    1) On a doormat: "The grass is greener under my weiner".

    2) On a T-shirt: "Real men play with their weiners".

    3) On a picture of a dachshund bitingan older mans ankle: His wife
admonishes him "Now, Frank...you know that Fritz does NOT like to be
    called a weiner dog".

    4) On another picture of a dachshund: "The 5 second rule doesn't apply
when you have a 2 second dachshund".

I'm a member of several dachshund groups on Facebook. My late wife had dachshunds, and I've grown partial to them. But, with expenses and other issues, I can't afford to have one anymore. The one I had was re-homed
the day my wife died almost 10 1/2 years ago.

    Never heard it that way.

Is doxy a short name for dachshund?

Yes..sometimes they call them doxy or doxies (plural). They're also
known as "Weiner Dogs" or "Sausage Dogs". There is actually a place in
the UK, known as "The Sausage Dog Hotel", where people bring their
dachshunds by for a day or two. Further information on it is on their
Facebook page, although they probably have a website.

It's from a story I read many years ago, so naturally my schooling kicked in and I had to look up that word, the plural of which is doxies.

Can't say I've heard them called that. My daughter had a Chaweenie (half dachshund, half Chihuahua). A very sweet dog. I used to sit in the yard watching her teach her pups to fight while at the same time disbelieving what I
was seeing. Maybe I misinterpreted what I was seeing, but that is what it looked like.

I'm a fan of German shepherds. I had one for 14 years.
