I wish mine still lived in their previous home. It had a finished basement (well, technically it was a bi-level) complete with bathrooms and bedrooms.
That'd be a nice setup! :D
Now, my mother lives in a much smaller home with no basement, while my father and his wife live in a home with a clean, dry basement but with no facilities. It does at least have electric and is a walk out. ;)

i actually somewhat miss it when people could smoke indoors. i remember one weekend everyone hanging out in the bar having a blast and the next weekend the law changed and it became this routine of people heading back and forth to smoke while i sat inside waiting. i don't miss hanging my jacket up on the deck to air it out though..
I had a lot of relatives, but none I lived with, that were life-long smokers at the time. It was really difficult for them to even consider stopping. What surprised me was how many people my age, and slightly younger, who picked up the habit despite the dire warnings.

My wife finally quit a little over a year ago. It was killing her. Less that three weeks after quitting, her face had completely changed and she looked much more lively and younger. She can't breathe anymore and she has gained about 20 lbs but I am just so glad she finally quit...

Road trips in the '70s with two parents who smoked turned me off.
They claimed they'd open the window a crack and all of the smoke would
be sucked out. Didn't work as planned.
Later on, my father contracted emphysema, and that helped turn my
kids off of smoking.
They see smoking as harmful, but apparently vaping is just stupid.
People tend to think of 'vaping' as safe, but it's not safe.

The chief ingredient is propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycol.
These are ingredients used in countless food, medicine, cosmetic, and other products. Been to a live show? Theatrical fog is the same stuff, just un-scented, and obviously does not contain nicotine.
It's true that a lack of regulation means potentially bad stuff in the flavouring compounds (see below), but if you buy from reputable juice manufacturers who are open about their ingredients, and/or operate in
a jurisdiction that regulates the industry, you are far far far better
off than inhaling combustion products.

It's strange what people do to justify smoking or 'vaping'. As I
stated in the message originally, I'm no one to talk as I smoked
cigarettes until I was 27 years old. I knew it was bad at the time I

Much of my immediate family (including my parents) and their friends smoked when I was growing up. I didn't like it, and anyone who smoked always told me it was a bad idea, so I never started. My mom had a
heart attack in 2014 and she decided to just stop smoking. My dad had
a bad cold years ago and said he couldn't really smoke because he'd
cough too much, and he was also sleeping a lot; he said he slept
through much of his withdrawals, and he decided to stop smoking after that. I'm glad they stopped smoking.. These days, I don't know very
many people who smoke anymore.
It seems almost weird now to think I remember when smoking was legal basically everywhere, including inside grocery stores & supermarkets & such. People used to be buying grocery store produce that had been exposed to cigarette smoke in the store.

Yup, recall that too, and in restaurants while you're trying to
eat. I'm old enough to even remember people smoking on
airplanes. The rear 1/3 or so of the seating was for smokers,
as if there was a magic barrier that kept the smoke from coming
forward into the rest of the cabin. Not cool at all, but at
that time it was a "normal" thing. Seems very strange to me
now.

I believe that if you want to smoke when you're traveling, that
you drive yourself. You can NOT smoke on the train, plane, or bus.
While Amtrak does offer smoke break stops (if the train is on
time or early), if you're caught smoking on the train (especially
if you're under age), you're put off the train at the next town,
whether it's your stop or not...and they will likely get local
law enforcement to remove you.
I remember on one trip years ago that east of El Paso, at Sierra
Blanca, Texas...a 16 year old kid was caught smoking. They stopped
the train, and had law enforcement remove him. His ticket was
confiscated, his reservation was canceled, and he was on his own
to get to his destination.
Years ago, in a bowling league, the cigarette smoke in there was
so thick, that you thought that you were getting cancer of the
eyeballs!! You could hardly see the lane or the pins, it was that
bad!!
I've never actually had the pleasure of riding on an Amtrak
train - something I'd like to do one day.
I've certainly been in a few smoky bowling allies, and agree
that it's out of control. At least it used to be, haven't been
bowling in years. I think in general though, society has turned
away from smoking in a big way. I don't really see it very
often any more, in fact.
I have a bowling game on my smartphone, and some bowling doors
on the BBS. Otherwise, that's the only bowling I do anymore, but
this tagline comes to mind. <G>
duno if you're into emulators, or non-bbs gaming in general, but i highly recommend the Super Nintendo game "Super Bowling" :)
i think it's the best one for home consoles, perhaps other than Wii Bowling (i prefer the plain old game controller). i've played it two player with random people and they don't hate me for it hehe

"Why is the government getting involved in people's lives like this?" Van Schoiak said. "What purpose do we have in deciding that a couple who are or 17 years old, their parents say, you know, `you guys love each other, ahead and get married, you have my permission.' Why would we stop that?" tps://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article288424893.html#s y link=cpy
I say let them do it, especially if they have children. I'm not for much ol marrying younger, though.I moved out my folks home on my 18th birthday. I would have loved to stay there forever but it was a small home and there were 4 of us there and I wanted to 'do my thing'. I sure wish I stayed longer. There were some good times in that house. :)
I had a kid young and i would have married young if i had the opportunity at the time. we were in a 'common law' marriage for 11 years. that's better th most adults I know.
I also didn't live with my parents until I was 35.
Marriage is such a joke now. People shouldn't marry without an ironclad prenup. Even if you're poor.

No mention of it whatsoever, though. Instead, you insist on pushing
another agenda entirely, and putting people down if they don't have th
same views as you do.
I love /s how my desire to have the same rights as straight people is considered an "agenda" & how my desire to not be murdered is considered my "view". That's really all Pride is about, our demands (you're damn well righ we DEMAND) to be safe & have the same rights as everyone else, including the right to fair jobs access, fair housing, everything that straight people exp for themselves. Pride is about normalizing our existence in the world, not about trying to "shove our views in everyone's face".
I don't see it now, but you said something about me going about trying to ge my point across the wrong way. Am I? I don't know that I agree with that opinion. First of all, I have no delusion that I'm going to convince anyone here of anything, I'm really not sure why I even keep responding. Except, ma there's an LGBTQ person out there that's been afraid to come out & maybe see my posts will help them be less afraid.
Second, I could care less about being a "good gay", the ones that make sure cave to the desires of straight people, to make sure they don't cross that l of what's acceptable to y'all. Have you ever heard the analogy of not thinki the leopards would ever eat MY face? That's what happens to "good gays", eventually the people they're putting on a good show for turn on them too, o they've gotten what they need from them. And no, don't pull out some shit ab "you're saying all straight people are leopards that are going to eat the fa of gay people", the leopards eating faces are straight people that pretend t support gay people just long enough to try to get us to let our guards down.
