    Demolition Man is gold.

Event Horizon is quite fine. I think they were trying to make an error movie with it rather than action or thriller, on the other hand.

Airplane! is known as Flying High! in Australia. It is perhaps my favourite comedy movie of all time, and in my top 5 favourite movies of all time.

That's one of the few films where the sequel is about as good as the original! Naked Gun is another 3 film series about equal to Airplane/Flying High :)
The opening is classic!.. and love the theme music too. Can't forget
Bad Grandpa or another more modern fav of mine Sex Drive. Amanda Crews *drool* and Seth Green as an Amish dude funny as hell!

The entire movie is a Dad Joke!

Of all of the derivative films out there, I'd put Hot Shots! in the list for entertainingly mindful. The opening "Carrier Operations" scene in slow
motion with the fog, with the planes marked "THE NAVY" and parallel parking
on the deck of the carrier makes me snicker every time.

I never considered them slap stick - I though they were too 'dry' for that, which, to me, is MUCH better comedy! Just like I prefer Marx Brothers to
    Three Stooges. :-)

I don't know what other category you'd put it in though. Both Stooges and
Marx Bros were great! I read a very great blog years ago from a guy who
wrote a fan letter to Moe Howard when he was in school and he told Moe how
one day he'd like to meet him, I think the kid was in Texas. Anyway, Moe wrote him back personally and they began a pen-pal thing. Moe told him that if he ever made it to Hollywood to call this phone number and he'd be given some instructions as to what to do. It was Moe's home. For graduation the kid's folks helped give him enough money to make it there and back driving and
the kid called the number. Moe's wife answered and got Moe on the phone. Moe asked where the kid was and proceeded to give him directions to his home. When the kid got there he was amazed that not only did all this happen but how honestly pleasant Moe was. He told the kid and the friends he was with some
of the history of the stooges, showed him around his place, and then his
wife prepared lunch for them all! Now that's what I call a decent person who didn't let fame go to his head!

Did you watch Police Squad! ? Not the Naked Gun movies, but the 6

Of course! I was very surprised that it only lasted 6 episodes!

Oh yes, Flying High 2 was nearly as good as the first. What I liked is they didn't take themselves seriously, but they were still mature comedies.

I can't think of a good comedy movie that came out in the last 5 years.

Z-A-Z movies were all quite funny, like they took over the comedy scene
from Mel Brooks. Speaking of which, he never did come out with a sequel to Spaceballs as I heard he was going to.

Oh yes, Flying High 2 was nearly as good as the first. What I liked is they didn't take themselves seriously, but they were still mature comedies.

Unfortunately here anyway, they had to take out the jive talking scenes because BLM whined about it... *decades later*. What's wrong with that picture? They did so well because they knew how to laugh at themselves.

I can't think of a good comedy movie that came out in the last 5 years.

Me either. There's been some funny scenes here and there. I think the latest -funny- movie I've seen was Bad Grandpa!

I consider slap stick more of the phsycial comedy like the stooges,
but the dry delivery of Airplane, Top Secret, etc. - and other movies
of that type, like Robin Hood Men in Tights or Hot Shots - some slap
stick moments, but mostly 'thinking' humor. :-)
